Hawaii, Dubai, Nigeria and Saudi Arabia — Norm has “been there, done that.” After many years working abroad, Norm settled in Utah as the dean of UVU’s Woodbury School of Business for 12 years. (Fun fact! Thanks to Norm, UVU will soon offer free feminine hygiene products throughout the campus!) In 2022, Norm’s career added a diagnosis of president and CEO of Provo’s innovative medical school: Noorda College of Osteopathic Medicine. Out of the 48 states and 50 countries he has traveled to, his favorite is the Scottish Highlands and Islands. “They feed a part of my soul like no other place. Who doesn’t love bagpipes?” But he’s also a true local and was the leading scorer on the state champion Mountain View HS soccer team in 1982.

Game of Life I am up at 4:45 a.m. and do 5 miles with my Portuguese Water Dog, Nando. Then spiritual preparation, current events and emails. Next, I am off to work. I finish the day with family time and community responsibilities, including work with Academy for Creating Enterprise and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A little recreation and off to bed by 10:30 p.m.

Uno Reverse I am on the autism spectrum. I’ve worked hard on social interactions with others (including my patient wife, Dolly) so I could enjoy friendships and work relationships and do the kind of work I want to do.

Roll the Dice Leaving a comfortable job in Hawaii to work abroad was a major turning point. I found I loved higher education strategy and creating conditions where team members could do their best work.

Hungry Hippos Asado, the Asado Aussie Burger.

Catchphrase Cheers.

Full Hand I have quite a few landscape oil paintings — mostly by my dad who is a first-rate artist. I also own a lot of “Aloha” shirts from my Hawaii days.

Life Cheat Codes Meditation and B-complex vitamins.

Roll the Dice It was a surprise I was selected to run a medical school!
