THE Ricky Barrera has some major track-tion. Four years ago, he quit his stable job with Google in Salt Lake City to follow his daring DJ dream. Since then, he’s DJed in states all over the country and all over Utah. He’s jammed with Utah power families like the Coveys and the Osmonds. He’s DJed for popular influencers like Mixhers, Freshly Picked and Ring King Tristen Ikaika. He’s brought the house down at weddings. And he’s dropped sick beats (is that what the cool kids say, Ricky?) at stadiums, basketball games and dance arenas for the top colleges in the state. The beat goes on, man. And so will Ricky.
PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT I’m currently on a plane right now headed to DJ in NYC, so RIGHT NOW. HARDEST MOMENT There are multiple. But one that sticks out the most is making the decision to leave a comfortable job for something not secure. LEADERSHIP STYLE Making sure the beehive that works for us knows FIRST that they are loved and needed. BEST PART OF BEING YOUNG IN BUSINESS TIME. Just having the time and the energy to get it all done. HARDEST PART OF BEING YOUNG IN BUSINESS Looking like I’m 25 and not being taken seriously at times. But it’s also a blessing, ya know? MAIN MOTIVATION My mom and sister. I just want to make them proud. ULTIMATE CAREER DREAM To be a household name in the DJ world. I want to be the go-to for the big names — not just in Utah but across the country. I wanna DJ the Oscars!
