ALLISON HUNT

Baltic Born | Co-founder + Owner | Lehi | AGE 35

Allison Hunt is fashionably early. She graduated high school at just 16, and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from BYU at the age of 20. In 2016, she co-founded Baltic Born, a women’s clothing company that specializes in dresses, with her two sisters. The company has grown 13,000% in the past three years, and in 2021 was named Utah Valley’s No. 1 Fastest-Growing Company in BusinessQ’s UV50. To keep up with the growth, this year Baltic Born moved into a 30,000-square-foot warehouse — and will no doubt keep bursting at the beautiful seams.

PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT Being self funded! We started Baltic Born by taking out a small business loan for $20,000. We paid that off in 1.5 years. Since then, we have continued to be self funded even as we have grown at an exponential rate. No greater feeling than owning all of your company and not owing anyone else a dime!

HARDEST MOMENT Surviving a move from four different warehouses and 15 storage units into one 30,000-square-foot warehouse and implementing a new automation system. We were working 14 hour days for 2 months and I honestly didn’t think we would come out the other side — but we did it! LEADERSHIP STYLE Firm but peppy! I was a cheerleader growing up and that has definitely carried over. BEST PART OF BEING YOUNG IN BUSINESS I make my own rules. I don’t feel like I’m in a box where I have to do certain things because that’s how it’s always been done. HARDEST PART OF BEING YOUNG IN BUSINESS People underestimate you. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been asked, “So did your dad fund this side gig?” Newsflash — it’s the main gig and I paid for it. MAIN MOTIVATION Being better than yesterday. My drug of choice is beating yesterday’s sales with today’s sales — last year’s growth with this year’s growth. I love to push myself. I don’t compete with others; I compete with myself. ULTIMATE CAREER DREAM That my children see they are capable of anything they set their mind to. As a woman, I want them to know I shattered every glass ceiling. I never quit. I never doubted myself. I showed up every day. I hope that inspires them to do the same.
