Nu Skin | Global Sustainability Manager
Provo | AGE 27
Alyssa Sheehan’s career is seriously sustainable. After graduating from BYU in 2019 with a degree in international relations and non-profit business management, she went directly to Nu Skin and breathed nu life into their sustainability practices. Alyssa helped build the first official global sustainability program for the direct sales giant. She is also one of the founders and board members of the Utah Sustainability Business Coalition — a consortium of Utah businesses that all pledge to make goals around sustainability and assign dates to complete them.
PROUDEST ACCOMPLISHMENT When I started at Nu Skin, our sustainability program was basically non-existent. It’s been fun, hard and so fulfilling to be a part of building the program and further integrating sustainable business practices into everything we do at Nu Skin. HARDEST MOMENT Dealing with ambiguity. As someone who loves a good checklist, I have had to learn to adapt and see challenges as opportunities rather than obstacles. LEADERSHIP STYLE Lead others to success. That’s the secret to collaboration, results and purpose-filled work. BEST PART OF BEING YOUNG IN BUSINESS As someone who’s still frequently mistaken for a high-school student, first impressions can be difficult. However, once it’s clear I’m not 15, age isn’t a prohibitive factor. In fact, being younger in the business world provides a unique and valuable perspective into current trends and opportunities. MAIN MOTIVATION Bold ideas, seeing real progress, and working with friends and colleagues on impactful projects. ULTIMATE CAREER DREAM I want to help build a future where companies are accountable to all stakeholders – customers, employees, partners, communities and the environment.
